The following are ongoing and regularly scheduled events held every month
in addition to Minyan, Mincha, Kabbalat Shabbat and Shabbat Services.

Every first Friday (Dinner not always held)	• Tot Shabbat Service & Dinner Service 6:00 pm; dinner 6:30 pm For families with young children to welcome the Sabbath with stories & songs. Reservations required for dinner only; vegetarian option available. Open to the community.
Every first Saturday (September thru May)	• Ma'alot Minyan: Another Opportunity for Prayer 9:30 am Member-led egalitarian service that concludes in time to join with those in Sanctuary Service for Kiddush. Open to the community.
Every second Saturday (September thru May)	• Shabbat Family Experience 9:30 am Creative, interactive & upbeat Shabbat celebration that incorporates family- themed activities. Open to the community.
Every third Saturday	• K'Ton Time 10:30 am A 20-minute family service that includes songs, prayers, stories & games; a kid- friendly kiddush; playground time for the kids & schmoozing time for parents. Open to the community.
Every fourth Saturday	• Junior Congregation A Service For Kids ... Led By Kids 10:30 am Young people have the opportunity to be led in prayer by their peers, to engage in prayer in their own environment, and to strengthen bonds among themselves. Service includes its own special kiddush. Open to the community.
Every Shabbat afternoon	• Torah Study One hour before Mincha For beginners & scholars alike, informal discussions of weekly Torah portion. Open to the community.
Every other Sunday (September thru May)	• Kadima USY 12:15 pm United Synagogue Youth group for 4th through 6th grades.
Every Sunday, Tuesday & Thursday (September thru May)	• Religious School Sun. 9:30 am; Tues./Thurs. 4:15 pm; For children kindergarten age through 8th grade, our curriculum forms the basis for life-long learning in our Jewish tradition.
Every Tuesday (September thru May)	• Junior USY 6:00 pm United Synagogue Youth group for 7th and 8th grades.
Every Wednesday	• Weekday Torah Study Group 11:00 am Open to the community, this in-depth study of the Torah is informal & thought- provoking. No charge.
Every Wednesday (September thru May)	• Senior USY 7:00 pm United Synagogue Youth group for 9th through 12th grades. • Adult Education Classes 7:00 pm Basic Judaism & Hebrew studies; includes beginning prayerbook Hebrew & the Jewish calendar & holidays. Open to the community.
Every third Wednesday (September thru May)	• Lunch & Learn with Rabbi Eisen Lunch 11:30 am; Learn 12:00 noon Informal learning experience; bring-your- own-dairy lunch, (beverages & dessert provided). Open to the community. Reservations requested. No charge.

Tot Shabbat Service	Friday, May 2, 6:00 pm Special Kabbalat Shabbat Service for young families to welcome the Sabbath with stories & songs.
Ma'alot Minyan	Saturday, May 3, 9:30 am If you think the sanctuary is too big or you just want to daven, you may prefer our member-led egalitarian service held in the Epstein Chapel.
"Read It & Meet" Book Discussion	Saturday, May 3, 12 noon, Synagogue Library Assigned book: Now They Call Me Infidel by Nonie Darwish Book discussions are held once a month and are open to everyone. We discuss selected books by Jewish authors or with Jewish content, and share our experiences, reactions, and ideas. Most discussions take place Shabbat afternoons following Kiddush in the Library (approximately 12:00 noon). Moderators facilitate each discussion. Mishnah Study	Sundays, 8:45 am All are welcome to join Rabbi Robert Eisen as he leads this study of the Mishnah, the first recording of the "Oral Law" of the Jewish people. No charge to attend. The only prerequisite: an inquisitive mind!
B'nai Mitzvah Class	Mondays, May 5, 12 & 19, 4:00 pm; No class May 26 in observance of Memorial Day.
Junior USY	Tuesdays, May 6 & 13, 6:00 pm

Weekday Torah Study Group	Wednesdays, 11:00 am Informal study led by Rabbi Robert Eisen and Rabbi Kelley Gludt. Everyone is welcome. No charge to attend.

Adult Education Kollel	Wednesday, May 7, 7:00 pm All are welcome to attend a free adult education class in honor of Israel's 60th anniversary. Cantor Ivor Lichterman will present, "Great Songs, Music & Musicians of Israel." The evening includes a presentation in words and song with videos, recordings, discussion and audience participation. Women's League Luncheon	Wednesday, May 14, 12:00 pm All are welcome to attend this event to honor CAI's Judaica Gift Shop volunteers. Includes catered luncheon & fashion show modeled by members of Women's League with fashions provided by Chico's on Oracle. Women's League members $18; guests $25. Reservations due May 9. Couples Connection Planning Meeting	Thursday, May 15, 7:00 pm All current and potential members of Couples Connection are invited to attend a Planning Meeting in the synagogue’s library to develop a calendar of events for 2008-2009. Please come prepared to share your ideas with the group and host/sponsor an activity in which you are interested. The continued success of the Couples Connection depends upon your direct participation! The Couples Connection is an active group of friendly participants (who make no distinction between current and new members and non-members who are considering joining Congregation Anshei Israel) whereby one member of the pair is between the ages of 55 & 70(ish). Group members host the planned activities on a rotating basis. Events include holiday celebrations, fun, & social & cultural get-togethers. There is no membership fee to participate. K'Ton Time	Saturday, May 17, 10:30 am A family service your kids will love! This 20-minute service includes songs, prayers, stories & games; kid-friendly kiddush; playground time for kids & schmoozing time for parents. Then we join the main congregation for the end of sanctuary services & kiddush. K’Ton Time is geared to families with kids ages 1 to 6, but every family is welcome.
8th Grade Siyum	Saturday, May 17, 6:15 pm
Men's Club Meeting	Sunday, May 18, 9:30 am Guest speaker Lora Mwaniki Lyman will discuss how Israeli agriculture techniques have helped in Kenya and other African nations. Includes delicious breakfast buffet at no charge for paid-up Men’s Club members; guests are welcome for $4 CAI’s Men’s Club provides educational, social and communal service for all members of the synagogue. Monthly Sunday breakfast meetings offer delicious food, excellent speakers and fellowship. Complimentary first year membership; thereafter annual membership is $40. Couples Connection	Sunday, May 18, 3:45 pm Annual Bowling and Dinner Event at local lanes followed by dinner. The cost for bowling is $5.50 per person which includes two games and shoe rental. Rabbi Eisen's "Lunch & Learn"	Wednesday, May 21, 11:30 am Informal (& fulfilling!) learning experience in which Rabbi Eisen brings a different topic for discussion to every Lunch & Learn... it could be a hot topic in the news, something Torah-related, or a subject of Judaic concern in the world. Be informed ... be surprised ... be at the next Lunch & Learn! The “Lunch” begins at 11:30 am, followed by the “Learn” at Noon. University of Arizona Musical Program	Wednesday, May 21, 7:00 pm Free musical program featuring student soloists from the University of Arizona School of Music with special guests Grayson Hirst, Tenor, UA Voice Professor and Cantor Ivor Lichterman, Congregation Anshei Israel. Free admission. Donations requested to benefit Voice Students’ Traveling Scholarships for Orpheus’ European concert tour July 14-25, 2008. Event co-sponsored by Sons of Orpheus-The Male Choir of Tucson and Congregation Anshei Israel.
Preschool/Kindergarten Graduation	Friday, May 23, 11:00 am
Junior Congregation	Saturday, May 24, 10:30 am A service for kids ... led by kids held every fourth Saturday (including holidays) at which our young people have the opportunity to be led in prayer by their peers, to engage in prayer in their own environment, and to strengthen bonds among themselves. Those in first through sixth grades are invited to attend this service in the Epstein Chapel, complete with its own special kiddush.
